The guide provides essential information, resources and contacts to enable anyone interested in developing local assets to get started. It is not comprehensive, but provides a range of practical tools and activities that can help to develop thinking, understanding and planning. It also provides case studies that show it can work in practice.

Making Assets Work - Quirk review of community management and ownership of public assets

The quirk review was commissioned by DCLG, and is part of a broader attempt to redefine the relationships between central and local government and communities.

The review came to 3 principle conclusions:
